About me

Sarah Turner MBACP
I am a qualified Integrative Humanistic Psychotherapist/ Counsellor for adults, teenagers and children. I also have advanced qualifications in the development of Children and Young People with a specialism in working with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
Part of my offer is to combine these unique experiences to provide a therapeutic space for parents to explore, express and be guided around issues they are facing with their children. Helping them to become their own child’s therapist.
My professional career working with children, young people and their families spans over two decades. I have experience working across the board in all areas of education from Early Years, Primary School, Secondary Education and within Youth Justice. I have worked as a Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENDCO) helping children and their families gain the additional support they need in gaining additional funding and support with Education Health Care Plans (EHCPs).
I also work with adults who have experienced childhood trauma.
I use my knowledge of neuro-science, depth of experience and professional training to explore the trauma and break the patterns created by intergenerational trauma. Thus creating new patterns and developing new choices.
Being Interculturally trained, my theoretical approach embraces the richness of difference and diversity as I lean into the protective factors that the wealth of the individual’s culture brings in, order to foster a stronger sense of self-worth, healing, and growth.
I work in partnership with local authorities, the NHS and Private Sector to help Children, Young People and their families gain the additional support needed to overcome adversity.
In my community work, I deliver whole school therapeutic services by offering both short and long-term complex case therapy to primary and secondary aged children, whilst guiding parents and teachers.
My work in the field of Youth Justice allows me to consider the impact society sometimes plays in shaping negative experiences for some young people and their families, who live in the most financially deprived areas. With this understanding I work directly in the community to bring change and challenge inequality by offering conflict resolution groups within schools and youth centres.
I am a registered member with the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapist and am guided be their ethics, principles and values.
